Glossary as requested

Hi all,

There's a good evidence-based practice glossary available from the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine in Oxford. Go to: http://www.cebm.net/glossary.asp They have also agreed to publish details of our Evidence in Practice courses (see their calendar).

Hope you are all well.

Teaching about Diagnosis

Hi all,

Me again. For those who are interested, the teaching presentation I mentioned on diagnosis can be downloaded from the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine in Oxford. Go to: http://www.cebm.net/downloads.asp and find 'Teaching about diagnosis' by Tom Sensky. The first part is a visual explanation of sensitivity, specificity, prevalence, etc.

Enjoy!

A big thankyou

Hi all

Hope you have recovered from all your efforts last week. John, Jill and I would just like to say thankyou to you all. You were a fantastic group and we were really impressed with your hard work and time-keeping.

Please keep using the blog to record your efforts and I will post my EBP cycle (trying to practice what I preach) to encourage you all to try out your skills.

People asked for a list of books that I brought last week. I'll ask Jill to email a short ref list out to you all.

I thoroughly enjoyed last week and learnt a lot from you.

Thanks again,
Amanda x

Help needed!

Hi all

Working out my PICO from today - can anyone help with my search terms?

My question is about the effectiveness of doubling dosage of steroid inhaler to prevent any exacerbation of asthma in a child less than 10 years old. It's how I enter 'double dosage' in MEDLINE - increased dosage maybe? (I will use MEDLINE's thesaurus and subject headings to help).

See you tomorrow.

Amanda

Welcome!

It's great to see you all today. This is the Tees blog for those of you who haven't seen it yet. Please sign up (only takes a few minutes) and you too can be a blogger!

Hope you enjoy the next few days,
